Abstract
Andrzej Grzegorczyk died on 20th March 2014. Even though he was 91 years old, his passing was unexpected as he had been doing creative work almost until his last moment and his intellectual capacities seemed intact. His memoirs emphasized that he had been the previous century’s last worldrenowned representative of Polish logic. While this is true, it seems much more important that he was a very unique person, academically and socially active, but also a free spirit who chose his own path.
